Alzheimer’s Association

Who They Are and What They Do…

The Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit health organization focused on Alzheimer care, support, and research. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Online message boards, local chapters, and a toll free hotline keeps the Alzheimer’s Association readily accessible to provide information, support and referrals to those in need of help. The Alzheimer’s Association offers ongoing education to health care professionals called CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and can train local healthcare providers to lead Alzheimer support groups in their local community. To raise awareness and funds, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts multiple fundraisers a year, the largest being the “Memory Walk.” This fundraiser takes place year round and involves people of all ages working to raise sponsorship support while walking for a cure. The Alzheimer’s Association has local chapters in every state. Their resource for senior housing is powered by SNAP for Seniors. Visit www.alz.org to learn more.
